We had Spring. Then we lost it. It got cold again. Last Saturday morning at our Weekend Retreat up in Angus we had horizontal snow.
It's only a bit warmer today but the Wheel of Fortune got fed up waiting and has decided to go ahead and toss out lambs and frogspawn and Blackthorn blossoms nonetheless.
Caireen tells me that it's 'Baltic' every Easter. She's younger than me and so can remember what the weather was like on a certain day a year ago.
I suspect that she also makes a certain number of things up and then says that I simply can't remember them. Having a husband older than you functions as a sort of 'free pass' for creative memory on the part of younger women. While I don't think it qualifies as 'elder abuse' in the strictest sense of the term, I still might set up a fund for myself in the future.
I do know that we've never had either the First Fire on Easter Eve or the Sunrise Service on Easter Morning rained out and that's the principal thing.
Let it blow and be cold. As long as it doesn't rain on my First Fire.
"This year's frogspawn photo is marginally better than last year's frogspawn photo". I only regret that it's too late to include this information in the current year's 'sit down chat with the bishop' where the improvement could have balanced the slight decrease in attendance at this year's Advent Study over last year's Advent Study.
